What is human design? (And how it will change your life!)

More and more people are getting into a spiritual practice thanks to the accessibility of things like crystals and tarot cards which were once hidden away in “occult stores”. Now you see stacks of Astrology books in Urban Outfitters amongst other mass retailers. They have quickly become the gateway drug for Millennials and Gen Z into the ancient practice of living your best life via the cosmos.

You might find your typical run of the mill sun sign reading that tells you if you’re a stubborn Taurus or find out if you are compatible with a self-centered Leo. Though, after you scratch the surface you find out that there is a whole world of information based on your birthplace and time.

The next level of that concept is Human Design a pseudoscience originated by Ra Uru Hu in 1992 combining astrology, I Ching, Kabbalah, and the Chakras. It has been called “the new astrology.” Planets are displayed in a type of horoscope called a bodygraph. The bodygraph shows the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching at various locations on the body. It is sometimes shown within a mandala, overlaid on the 12 signs of the zodiac.

Everything from dietary regimen to optimal living environment is covered. It truly is a “user manual” for your life. Helping people realize that when they live in alignment with their true nature, they begin to accept themselves for who they are, instead of chasing who they are not—to live out our real purpose in the world.

In Human Design there are four different aura types that people have. An aura also known as a human energy field is, according to New Age beliefs, emanates from your body and encloses it. It’s the first thing people “feel” when they meet you. Learning to embrace this idea of having an outer shell will help you figure out how to get what you need from the world based on your innate communication style.

The dominant Type on the planet with nearly 70% of the population. They are the driving life force of the planet. They have an open and enveloping aura constantly pulling life to them. Learning about themselves is a basic need.

Around 20% of the population. They have a focused and absorbing aura that gives them the ability to see deeply into others. Their basic need to learn about and understand others.

Around 9 percent of the population. They have a closed and repelling aura that can make others feel off-balance and want to control the Manifestor. Their basic need is to understand their impact on others.

Only 1 percent of the population. They have a resistant and sampling aura. Their basic need is to reflect people rather than identify as them.

The four aura types each have their own strategy. The strategy is your guide to living in a way that will be healthiest for your personal self, not who anyone else might want you to be or see you as.

Their strategy is wait to respond to a signal (question, eye contact, email) as opposed to initiating. Through this response, they finally find satisfaction, a purpose in their life, and work as well as avoid becoming frustrated or de-energized.

Their strategy is to wait. They must wait to be invited and wait to be recognized before they move forward. To do this they should tap into their gift of a focused aura to concentrate on the right people. People who will appreciate them. If not, they will get extremely depleted. When they use this energy they avoid bitterness and ultimately find success.

Their strategy is to share their findings with others before they act as it naturally releases the resistance they generally get due to their aura type. This will allow them to initiate peacefully. If they don’t share, they can end up feeling angry when met with any type of resistance they might experience.

Their strategy is to wait for a full cycle of the moon before making decisions to find clarity. This leads to a life of more surprises and less disappointment.

We often hear about following our gut instinct. It’s that pull in our body that says yes or no. It’s a quick response, unlike our minds which often take us a long time to process. That processing often drains us of our energy. When using your gut instinct or intuition you often gain more energy. This all ties into your inner authority in human design. We all have specific areas of the body that guide us to the right decision – not one of them being our mind.
